A unique quartet which gathers unusual Polish artistic personalities. Brilliant cellists, apart from developing solo careers, successfully perform chamber programmes, some of which include both early compositions (by Gesualdo da Venosa, Henry Purcell and Johann Sebastian Bach) and contemporary works (such as Sophia Gubaidulina’s Quartenion and Heinz Holliger’s Flüsterfuge und Zirkelkanon). Other masterpieces, namely the cello concertos composed by Édouardo Lalo, Edward Elgar, and Robert Schumann or Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme arranged for 4 instruments, reveal the artists’ virtuosity. Each of the works provides one of the cellists with an opportunity to take the lead, while others form an actively accompanying “orchestra”.
